The image connects to Freud’s Five Lectures Of Psycho Analysis in various ways. There is a person with no face and a face on a stick which we can assume belongs to the faceless body. This may represent the dissection of the Psychic Personality Freud mentions. It is about the breakdown of all three areas which include the ego, the id, and the superego. All three keys go hand in hand, however I believe the picture correlates on the relationship between the superego and the ego. The superego is the part of the ego that splits and allows oneself to observe the ego. In the picture the faceless persona is face to face with his own face which represents the ego. This superego acts as a conscious that may judge or reflect on the ego of oneself. The id area is made up of repressed urges and demands which may be considered chaotic at times. The ego acts as a protective coat or layer since the id can’t directly face the universe. The ego and the id may have clashing desires but they are able to come to terms on various aspects. The face on the stick can represent the ego which protects the id.
